Growing Old Gracefully?

I looked in the mirror and what did I see
but a wiggly grey hair looking back at me.
It begged for a plucking but I just knew
that 5 more would grow where the first one grew.
So now that grey hair is on my mind.
I can't look in the mirror 'cause I'm afraid to find
A thousand more growing on this head
That used to be brown with a hint of red.
Should I race for the bottle to color these locks
And pick a new color that totally rocks?
Or do I just sit back and let them all take root
And convince myself that I don't give a toot?
Oh what a wonderful dilemma I'm in
For no matter which way I choose, I really can't win.
My hair's going grey no matter what I do
So I'll just sit here and complain to you.

I love the poem! I have spotted a few grays myself. It's a right of passage I think. But, I totally color my hair! ha ha

Thanks! It's been a long time since I've tried my hand at poetry... :) I've actually had grey hairs for at least 10 years, however it's only been in the past 9 months or so that I've gotten squiggly ones. Definitely a rite of passage!

I love the poem! Join the greyhaired ranks, are we!? I had a small concentration in high school but then nothing until recently and I keep seeing more and more ... my mother went grey young and my older brother was mostly grey by my age so .... I'm doomed!:-)

Cute! That is the good thing about being blonde ... I just lie and say it's blonde, not gray :)

I've dyed my hair too long to know if I have any gray on my head; but the worst part is when the gray is not only on your head - but poking out of your eyebrows and other places south of your forehead!! LOL. Great poem.

Your powem (HAHA, it must be late.. powem? lordy) is so much better than my attempt this morning sans coffee. :-)

And I'm right there with ya, giggly and grey. Rockin' the grey hair!

Oh, I love it. Very cute. :)

I colored my hair blonde for many years - bad decision. It looked awful on me.

About the time I finally decided to go back to my natural brown, and after lots of visits to the salon, and many dollars later, the gray hairs started to sprout up.

Sigh. Oh well. A few of em won't kill ya. :)

I used to tell my mom when she started going grey to look at the grey hairs as badges of honor, badges that show wisdom and experience.

I'm just not sure if I'm ready to wear those badges!
